My BRS Collection

The very first version I used...

'THE WORD Processor' Version 5.1 was my first version that I have used for many years since 1993--later, the original materials were lost during shipping coming back to states. My software suite came with an update that adds Extended Memory capability that replaces the original TWP 5.1 executable file. The bible translation was the King James Version and I had a full array of utilities and add-ons, such as Verse Typist, Bible Maps, Bible Outlines, Librarian, Topics, People, Chain Reference (KJV), Chronological Bible, Personal Commentary, Bible Dictionary, Hebrew Dictionary, Greek Dictionary, and two Transliterators, .

Since the 2000's, I located and bought 'THE WORD Processor' version 4.0 (that had three update disks for v4.2, v4.3, and v5.0) in the dark grey binder from an online retailer. I installed it in my MS-DOS 6.22 retro-PC--so the disks and software work great!

Much later and by chance, I found 'THE WORD Processor' version 3.1 as seen above (the dark burgundy binder). This disk set tested good and also installed clean. It is definitely a different way of studying versus how easy v5.1 is! But, it is very usable.

I was lucky to locate a version 1.0 KJV text disks--however, it did not come with a program disk.

The latest acquisition I purchased was version 6.3B in a light colored binder (as shown above); however, the original CD-ROM was lost long ago, which I had hope to replace the one I had lost long ago. [Still looking for a replacement...]

Why do I think Verse Search is the best?

Since the 1990s, I have bought and used many other bible study software...

Bible Source for Windows

Bible Source for Windows [Study Edition] (1994) is a great study system. I used it to complement Verse Search until Zondervan published its replacement in 1997.

Zondervan The NIV Study Bible Complete Library

When I upgraded to Windows 98, I upgraded from Bible Source for Windows to this software because it has NASB and Amplified Bible translations to complement Verse Search.

Parson's QuickVerse

This is a very common application since the 1990's, I used versions 3 through 6. I do not have to say much about this one because everyone has probably have used it at one time or another.

theWord!

I currently use this software to complement my Verse Search v7. I can pattern my study-work flows well with this software that pretty much mimics what I also do in Verse Search. I like to study with both opened at the same time. (What I lack in Verse Search--I have in the other.)

I started using this software in 2019. Plus, you can really build a large reference library with every bible translation you want. Moreover, they continue adding more study materials every year. It is an excellent program and I really enjoy using it...

WRAP-UP:

I may have missed one or two other Bible study software that I tested and really never used them because of one reason or another. Each of these that I have named, I used for a couple of years each until it was replaced with another software that provided better usage or resources to be used with Verse Search.

My main point is once I switched from PC Study Bible Version 2 to Verse Search 5.1 as my main Bible study--I never looked for another replacement. Hence, in my opinion it is still the best!

As in lyrics, "Great Aunt Maurine said at a hundred and three Write scripture on your heart for when you need it..." (Leanna Crawford - Still Waters (Psalm 23)), I also plan to start memorizing the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit that is within me to teach me, guide me, and I will use it everyday! God bless you and remember Jesus loves you!!

BibleSoft PC Study Bible

This was my first bible software to buy, PC Study Bible Version 2 (MS-DOS), where I later upgraded to PC Study Bible 3 for Windows  (1993). Later, I tried the Advanced Reference Library 5 for Windows and this is the best version I have used from them. You cannot go wrong with any BibleSoft study programs.

WORDsearch 5

WORDsearch 5 Preacher's Library is another good software. I did not adapt well to this because my study flow did not adapt well--too different for me--but I used it more for reference sources.

Nelson's The Ultimate Bible Reference Library

This another reference source for me...but for another bible student like me, you cannot go wrong with this one.
